Remember, percent means “per” means “divide” and “cent” means “100”, therefore, percent can be written as “/100

Therefore, 23 percent, or 23% can also be written as 23/100 or

Another thing to remember is whenever you see the word “of” you must multiply the numbers on either side. In this case, you can multiply 23% and 100.

Solving this, we get
23 x 100
100

The 100 in the numerator cancels with the 100 in the denominator, and we are left with 23 as the answer.

Another way to solve this is to remember that to find a% of any number, simply do the following:

a x any number
100

Therefore, 23% of 100 is
23 x 100
100

We get the same answer of 23 again.
Given that x = 40, for an algebraic equation like this, wherever you see the letter x, replace with with 40.

x+6 becomes 40+6
Solving this gives us 46.
