There are 2 IGCSE Physics sylabus codes (0625 and 0972) which represent the same exam content but with different grading systems. IGCSE Physics 0625 uses a letter-based grade scale between A* to G, whereas, IGCSE Physics 0972 uses a numerical grade scale, 1 to 9 (1 is equivalent to A*). The exam paper is identical, however, there are fewer sessions and variants each year for IGCSE 0972 (highlighted in BOLD).

About IGCSE Physics 0625 and Physics 0972 Sylabus
The Cambridge IGCSE Physics 0625 and Physics 0972 (9-1) syllabus introduces students to essential physics concepts and scientific skills. Designed for learners aged 14–16, it develops both theoretical understanding and practical abilities, helping students apply physics to real-world problems and prepare for further study.
The syllabus is divided into five core sections:
- General Physics – motion, forces, energy, work, power, and pressure
- Thermal Physics – temperature, thermal properties, and heat transfer
- Waves – wave behavior, light, and sound
- Electricity and Magnetism – circuits, resistance, magnetism, and electromagnetism
- Atomic Physics – the nuclear atom, radioactivity, and its uses and dangers
Students can choose either the Core or Extended curriculum. The Core stream targets grades C–G and uses Paper 1, Paper 2, and Paper 5 or 6. The Extended stream targets grades A*–C and uses Paper 1, Paper 4, and Paper 5 or 6.
